American Safari Cruises’ Safari Endeavor will launch week-long Baja adventure cruises from November 2012 through April 2013.
The Endeavor is the former Spirit of Endeavor, a ship that sailed for defunct Cruise West. The ship is undergoing renovations.
The Endeavor will cruise the Sea of Cortez and the small islands of Isla Espiritu Santo, Isla Partida, Isla San Francisco, Isla San Jose and Los Islotes.
The 86-passenger Endeavor will replace the 22-passenger Safari Quest, which will sail Baja cruises this winter from Nov. 26 through April 14.
Sailings will depart from La Paz, 100 miles north of Cabo San Lucas. The cruise will stop in the colonial city of Loreto. Family-oriented cruises are scheduled for March 9 and 23, 2013, to coincide with spring break.
“The Sea of Cortez remains a secret oasis perfect for small-group exploration by boat,” said Tim Jacox, American Safari Cruises' executive vice president of sales and marketing.
“The intimate size of the Safari Endeavor allows us access to small bays and coves. We believe this size ship, a price point representing value, and outdoor pursuits such as kayaking and paddle boarding will appeal to a new group of travelers.”
The Endeavor will offer five stateroom categories, each with one or two outside windows and several with step-out balconies.
Other amenities include two massage rooms, two hot tubs, a sauna, gym equipment, a wine bar and a library. The ship will carry a crew of 34.
A swim step and launch platform on the stern of the ship will serve as the the hub for kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, sailing and snorkeling.
The cruise, including port charges, taxes, fees, all meals, all drinks and a massage starts at $2,995 per person, double.
