MSC Cruises chooses Sophia Loren as godmother of fourth ship

Sophia Loren will christen a fourth MSC Cruises' ship, the MSC Orchestra, in Civitavecchia, Italy, on May 14, MSC said.

Loren previously served as the godmother to the MSC Lirica, MSC Opera and MSC Musica.

MSC said that music will be a central theme of the christening, and that Loren will be joined at the ceremony by Ennio Morricone, an Italian composer known for film scores.

Morricone was nominated for an Academy Award for composing the score to "The Mission" in 1986.

After the ceremony the MSC Orchestra will embark on an inaugural cruise from Genoa, Italy, calling in France, Spain, Portugal and Morocco.

The ship will return to the Adriatic and commence weekly, seven-day cruises from Venice to Bari, Italy, calling in Greece, Turkey and Croatia.
