Montreal expects 46,000 cruise passengers this fall

With its high cruise season underway, Tourism Montreal said that it expects to host 46,000 cruise passengers between Aug. 31 and Oct. 22.

It expects 7,000 passengers alone on Oct. 1, the busiest day of the season when three ships will dock simultaneously.

Among the 29 ships scheduled during the next six weeks will be four making their first call at Montreal: Azamara Quest, Europa 2, Viking Star and Oceania's Marina.

They will be docking at temporary facilities at piers 34 and 37 east of the permanent cruise terminal in Old Montreal, which is undergoing renovations.

According to a survey conducted by the Montreal Cruise Committee, passengers who started or ended a cruise in Montreal or Quebec City in 2015 spent $23 million during their visits.
