Pier fire extinguished in NYC

New York firefighters put out a small blaze underneath one of the piers at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal on Sunday morning, according to published reports.

The Fire Department of New York said they believed pipe insulation ignited, causing a smoldering fire.

The nearby Norwegian Dawn, which had just arrived in port after a seven-day cruise, was not harmed. The cruise terminal did not need top shut off power.
