Ponant, the French luxury expedition line, said it will offer cruises in Alaska for the first time next summer.

The line will have six itineraries of between seven and 15 nights, including a 14-night cruise from Nome to Vancouver through the Bering Strait.

Another itinerary explores the Aleutian Islands and the Wrangel Island Reserve on a 15-night cruise between Seward, Alaska, and Anadyr, Russia, with air transport to and from Seattle before and after the cruise.

Cruises, offered on Ponant ships L’Austral and Le Boreal, include optional excursions aboard the ship’s fleet of Zodiacs in the company of expert guides and naturalists for close-hand looks at polar bear, caribou and puffins.
