The Princess Elaine began both upriver and downriver cruises on the Yangtze River as China Regal Cruises resumed operations there.

The company said its two other two ships will resume the river sailings Sept. 1.

To rekindle interest after the SARS outbreak, the line is offering travel agent rates for $268 per person, double, excluding air fare.

Consumer rates start at $420 per person, double, and will rise to $585 in September and October.
