Princess cancels 2nd Regal Princess sailing

Princess Cruises cancelled a second cruise on the Regal Princess following further assessment of the damage to the vessel after it touched bottom on Feb. 18 in Huatulco, Mexico.

"We deeply regret that it is now necessary to cancel the March 1 South America voyage departing from San Juan," Princess said. "The time required to make the necessary repairs is, unfortunately, longer than we had originally hoped."

Princess will give passengers on that voyage a full refund, including air fare, and will provide passengers with a future cruise credit equal to 25% of the cruise fare paid for the sailing.

The ship will go into dry dock Feb. 23 where repairs will be undertaken and Princess said that the next scheduled sailing, a 12-day South America itinerary between Lima, Peru, and San Juan, will operate as planned on March 13.
