SANTA CLARITA, Calif. -- Princess Cruises promoted Alan Buckelew, a longtime Princess veteran, to president.

Previously, Buckelew was executive vice president of corporate services, with responsibility for strategic planning, marketing and yield management and also acted as Princess' chief information officer and chief financial officer.

Princess has been without a president for nearly a year. Peter Ratcliffe, Princess' CEO, said the changes were precipitated by the retirement of the line's executive vice president of fleet operations, Brian Langston-Carter, and Ratcliffe's increased duties as executive director of Princess and Carnival Corp.'s U.K.-based brands.

Dean Brown, formerly executive vice president of sales and customer service, takes over Langston-Carter's role in fleet operations, and Jan Swartz becomes senior vice president of sales and customer service while continuing as vice president of strategic planning. Jim Baer, meanwhile, was promoted to vice president of sales from his position of director of sales, national accounts.
