Calif. -- Itll be more than just a cheeseburger in paradise on the
menu on the next versions of the Caribbean Princess.
first Caribbean Princess already has three main restaurants, a
Sterling steakhouse, a Caribe lido cafe, a Patisserie coffee bar
and dinner available on a passengers private balcony.
And during an
interview at Princess headquarters here, the lines senior vice
president of fleet operations, Rai Caluori, said the line is
planning to add several dining and food options to its next two new
At the top of the
as-yet-unnamed vessel, known at headquarters as the Caribbean
Princess II, the line will do away with the nightclub pod -- the
distinctive spoiler that houses the disco on the back of its
build two new decks in the area beneath the nightclub and add a
souped-up version of its Sabbatinis Italian restaurant. The newest
Sabbatinis, Caluori said, will be a dining complex, complete with a
theater kitchen, where patrons can watch the food being prepared,
and an intimate bar.
Two new eateries
will be installed on the ground floor of the Caribbean Princess IIs
atrium, a move designed to bring some vibrancy into an area of a
cruise ship that typically doesnt see a lot of foot
International Cafe -- a functional bakery, a coffee bar and a
sandwich shop -- will replace the Patisserie coffee shop. A wine
and seafood bar will be on the other side of the room.
But the Caribbean
Princess II will be different in other ways. Part of the enclosed
area just above the new Sabbatinis -- but just below the nightclub
-- will belong to a newly placed kids and teens area.
Princess will add
touch-screen kiosks in the future cruise-planning section. And the
Lotus spa will be expanded to two floors -- at the expense of a few
