SANTA CLARITA, Calif. -- Itll be more than just a cheeseburger in paradise on the menu on the next versions of the Caribbean Princess.

Princess Cruises first Caribbean Princess already has three main restaurants, a Sterling steakhouse, a Caribe lido cafe, a Patisserie coffee bar and dinner available on a passengers private balcony.

And during an interview at Princess headquarters here, the lines senior vice president of fleet operations, Rai Caluori, said the line is planning to add several dining and food options to its next two new builds.

At the top of the as-yet-unnamed vessel, known at headquarters as the Caribbean Princess II, the line will do away with the nightclub pod -- the distinctive spoiler that houses the disco on the back of its Grand-class ships.

Princess will build two new decks in the area beneath the nightclub and add a souped-up version of its Sabbatinis Italian restaurant. The newest Sabbatinis, Caluori said, will be a dining complex, complete with a theater kitchen, where patrons can watch the food being prepared, and an intimate bar.

Two new eateries will be installed on the ground floor of the Caribbean Princess IIs atrium, a move designed to bring some vibrancy into an area of a cruise ship that typically doesnt see a lot of foot traffic.

A 24-hour International Cafe -- a functional bakery, a coffee bar and a sandwich shop -- will replace the Patisserie coffee shop. A wine and seafood bar will be on the other side of the room.

But the Caribbean Princess II will be different in other ways. Part of the enclosed area just above the new Sabbatinis -- but just below the nightclub -- will belong to a newly placed kids and teens area.

Princess will add touch-screen kiosks in the future cruise-planning section. And the Lotus spa will be expanded to two floors -- at the expense of a few cabins.
