Princess streamlines disembarkation process

Princess Cruises is rolling out a new disembarkation system designed to eliminate cruising's traditionally unwieldy exit process, which can turn contented cruisers into crabby castaways.

Under the new system, passengers receive a letter the day before the end of the cruise that tells them where and when to meet, depending on their return air arrangements. A member of the staff will wait with them in their assigned room until it is time to escort them to the gangway.

In some ports, departing passengers can opt for express disembarkation. According to Princess, this enables those who choose to carry their own luggage off the ship to be part of the first group to leave.

The new disembarkation process complements Princess' early embarkation program, which makes staterooms and lunch in the dining room available to passengers immediately upon boarding, according to the line.
