Princess Cruises said that for the first time it will enter a float in the Tournament of Roses Parade on New Year’s Day.
The parade is held in Pasadena, Calif., just down the freeway from Princess’ headquarters in Santa Clarita.
The float will depict Regal Princess, the line’s newest ship, and carry six original cast members of “The Love Boat,” who will christen Regal Princess in Fort Lauderdale on Nov. 5.
Being designed and built by Phoenix Decorating Co., the float will be 60 feet long and 24 feet high, and will be covered by more than 24,000 thousand flowers. Princess said the float is another in a series of special tributes to its 50th year in business.
An estimated 80 million people tune to NBC’s coverage of the 5.5-mile parade, which is viewed in person by about 700,000 spectators.
