Cunard Line’s Queen Mary 2 will be in drydock in Germany from Nov. 24 to Dec. 7 for a refurbishment that will redesign the ship’s Golden Lion Pub, upgrade the Canyon Ranch SpaClub and replace carpets and soft goods in staterooms, lounges and restaurants.
The pub refit will add an “American country club feel,” the line said. New TV screens will be installed.
Upgrades to the spa will target the teak borders of the hydrotherapy pool and adjacent wet areas. New exercise machines in the fitness center will be added.
The Play Zone/Kids’ Zone area will receive new play areas, and electronic gaming will be upgraded.
The QM2 will return to service Dec. 8, and Cunard said that new onboard features would be introduced at that time.
The refit is taking place at the Blohm + Voss Shipyards in Hamburg.
