Queen names Britannia in Southampton

P&O Cruises held a naming ceremony for the new Britannia with the ultimate godmother: Queen Elizabeth II.

Her Majesty did the honors for P&O’s newest and largest ship, which is adorned with a 308-foot version of the Union Jack on its bow.

The ship will carry 3,600 passengers at double occupancy. It will sail from Southampton, England, in the summer and in the Caribbean next winter.

P&O is a brand of Miami-based Carnival Corp.
