RCCL debuts 'Insight' Web tool

MIAMI -- On Dec. 9, Royal Caribbean Cruises launched Insight, an online tool that allows agents to track their bookings with Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises and flags potential booking problems before they impact clients.

In addition to keeping track of bookings, Insight can monitor the status of commission payments, flag restaurant seating inconsistencies across reservations and track document status via a direct link to UPS, among other things.

Insight is free to travel agencies that are registered with CruisingPower.com, Royal Caribbean's agent Web site.

Bill Martin, Royal Caribbean's associate vice president of customer and decision support, said Insight was beta tested with some 400 agents.

In a statement, Dave Lucas, president of Cruise411, which tested the technology, said Insight "enabled us to eliminate calls and reduce time spent managing each transaction, all of which increase the margin per RCCL booking."
