RCCL terminates crew on Xpedition for alleged shark-fishing incident

MIAMI -- Three crew members on Celebrity Cruises Xpedition who allegedly engaged in shark fishing in the protected waters of the Galapagos Islands have been terminated, the company said.

The crew were turned over to Ecuadorean police on Saturday.

The alleged episode occurred in January, but Lynn Martenstein, Royal Caribbean Cruises vice president of corporate communications, said the company learned of the alleged incident last week.

The crew members were relieved of duty as soon as we learned of the incident, she said.
