Radisson eyeing new ship

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Radisson Seven Seas Cruises is planning to order a 700-passenger ship, at about 46,000 to 50,000 tons, within the next two weeks, said Mark Conroy, the line's president.

The contract will be awarded to either T. Mariotti of Italy or the U.K.'s Cammell Laird.

The new ship will be a sister vessel to Seven Seas Mariner, under construction at France's Chantiers de l'Atlantique and scheduled to be delivered in late February 2001.

The new ship also will feature larger staterooms similar to ones found on the Seven Seas Navigator, which Radisson launched last year. Like Mariner, the new ship will be an all-suite, all-balcony vessel.
