Regent Seven Seas Cruises is dropping a call in Dakar, Senegal, on the Seven Seas Mariners' Oct. 13 sailing.
The cruise is a 21-night transatlantic crossing from Lisbon to Miami. The stop in Senegal had been scheduled for Oct. 17, but Regent is substituting an overnight stay in Santa Cruz de Tenerife in the Canary Islands because of worries about the outbreak of Ebola virus in West Africa.
"While Senegal had only one confirmed case of Ebola and the World Health Organization recently announced the virus is contained in that country, we always place the safety and comfort of our guests as our top priority and adjusted the itinerary to alleviate any concerns,” Regent spokesman Jason Lasecki said.
Some passengers on the upcoming cruise had contacted Regent to request the change.
To accommodate the Tenerife overnight, Regent said it would shift its call in Lanzarote, also in the Canary Islands, to Oct. 19.
