MIAMI -- ResidenSea will incorporate meal and beverage prices into cruise fares for its apartment rental program on board its ship the World.

Previously, the option of "free" meals and drinks was available only to passengers in the ship's studio residence cabins, which have no kitchens.

The change is part of an expanded rental fare program, which offers five price categories instead of only two.

And, in another development, ResidenSea also will make its studio residences available for condo purchase. The line's motivation is to attract more condo buyers to the ship.

By removing part of the wall between two cabins and adding a kitchenette, the studios can be turned into one-bedroom apartments.

Previously, the cabins were rented on a per-diem basis -- and they still can be, executives stressed, as long as the cabins' new owners participate in the rental program and, of course, are not sailing at the time.

Pricing for the one-bedroom units will start at $1.7 million, and studio residences will average $900,000, the company said.
