MIAMI -- ResidenSea is in negotiations to sell its ship, the World, and the ship's unsold cabin inventory to the people who own their own apartments on board the vessel.

ResidenSea, which operates the World as a unique cruise concept that mixes cabins owned condo-style with cabins rented on a per-day basis, has sold 75% of the apartment residences, or 82 of its 110 two- and three-bedroom apartments on the ship.

ResidenSea said that under the new owners a vacation rental program will continue to operate, and itineraries will remain intact for the time being.

A spokeswoman for ResidenSea said the company anticipates an agreement with the apartment owners will be reached "fairly shortly." She added: "We don't totally know what will happen ... I fully anticipate changes will take place."
