Royal Caribbean has ordered a fifth Quantum-class ship, and shipbuilder Meyer Werft is expected to deliver it in fall 2020.

There are two Quantum-class ships in service: the 4,180-passenger Quantum of the Seas and the Anthem of the Seas.

The third in the class, the Ovation of the Seas, is scheduled for delivery next April. The fourth in the class, not yet named, is due in 2019.

"It is such a pleasure to announce the order of another Quantum-class ship as we are welcoming the Anthem of the Seas to North America," said Richard Fain, chairman and CEO of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. "These ships have been received with excitement and performed exceptionally well across the globe. We fully expect that momentum to continue."

The Anthem of the Seas spent its maiden season sailing in Europe. The ship is on its way to Cape Liberty in Bayonne, N.J., where it will sail year-round. The Quantum sails from Shanghai, and the Ovation will also be based in China.
