Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. said it reached an agreement to sell Splendour of the Seas to TUI Cruises, a German cruise line in which it owns a 50% stake.

In a statement, Royal Caribbean said TUI anticipates chartering the 1,830-passenger ship to U.K.-based Thomson Cruises. The Splendour is expect to depart Royal Caribbean’s fleet in the second quarter of 2016.

Royal Caribbean said Splendor will complete all currently scheduled cruises. It’s final sailing for Royal Caribbean is scheduled April 4, 2016.

The ship was built in 1996, making it 20 years old next year. "The ship's sale is in line with our strategic objective of divesting ourselves of older hardware,” RCCL Chairman and CEO Richard Fain said.

The purchase price for Splendour was not disclosed.
