Variety Cruises introduced small-group rates for 2012 and pegged a 20% agent commission to bookings in the category.

The New York-based small-ship line operates a fleet of 11 vessels, including mega-yachts, private charter yachts and sail cruisers.

Its small-group rates apply to six or more cabin bookings. In addition to the higher agent pay, small groups will receive one free cabin for each six that are booked, an upgrade for one stateroom, and reductions up to 20% on pre- or post-cruise hotel stays booked by Jan. 31.

To receive the higher pay and the amenities, clients must place a 25% deposit by Dec. 31. The bookings must be paid in full by March 31.

Additional group discounts are being offered on various itineraries. For example, on five Greece cruises, clients can save 10% on cruise fares and on two-night pre- or post-cruise hotel stays, or up to 20% on cruise fares.

In other Variety Cruises news, the line will launch a new vessel, the 36-cabin Variety Voyager, next spring. The ship will operate French Riviera cruises from June to September; Italy, Sicily and Malta cruises from September to October; and Arabian voyages from November 2012 to April 2013.
