Carnival Cruise Line has canceled six departures of the Carnival Fascination because of hurricane damage to its terminal in San Juan.

The canceled voyages are the Sept. 24, Oct. 1 and Oct. 8 departures from San Juan and the Sept. 27, Oct. 4 and Oct. 11 departures from Barbados.

Carnival said that port officials in San Juan have discovered extensive damage to Carnival's terminal as a result of Hurricane Maria. Carnival said the assessment is still in progress but it appears that it will take several weeks to make the necessary repairs.

The Fascination docked at noon on Saturday in San Juan to debark passengers who wanted to get off there. It is sailing now to Miami and is expected to arrive at 7 p.m. today.

Carnival said its airline partners "are committed to working with our guests to waive any change fees associated with rescheduling flights." Carnival also said it would be working with guests who made independent air arrangements.

Guests on the canceled cruises will have full refunds automatically processed to their original form of payment, Carnival said.
