American Cruise Lines' fifth small ship, the 104-passenger Independence, debuted in summer 2010.

Built at the company's Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Salisbury, Maryland, the Independence is part of ACL's fleet of six U.S.-flagged ships that operate along the East and West Coasts.
