Introduction and History

Built in 1988, the Bahamian-registered Wind Spirit is a sail-assisted motor ship. It is largely powered by a diesel engine and runs at a speed of 10 knots, up to nearly 16 with the right winds. Officially designated as a four-mast schooner, the 5,736-ton, 360-ft, four-deck vessel feels more like a luxurious yacht.
