The U.S. Department of Commerce approved 74 tour itineraries as
American Pathways 2000 programs to promote the culture and heritage
of the U.S. The program is part of the Clinton Administration's
Among the designated itineraries submitted by tour operators and
approved by the department were Civil Rights Triangle, by the Black
Tourism Network of Missouri; In Search of Pocahontas by Tourco of
Hyannis, Mass., and Our Italian Immigrant Heritage by New York
Restaurant Center of New York.
Members of the National Tour Association, the American Bus
Association, the U.S. Tour Operators Association and the Receptive
Services Association were asked to submit itineraries that
highlight American heritage themes for consideration.
