LAS VEGAS -- Elvis and Priscilla Presley did it here. So did Paul
Newman and Joanne Woodward, Richard Gere and Cindy Crawford, as
well as Bruce Willis and Demi Moore.
These four couples are just a handful of celebrities who have
tied the knot in this self-proclaimed "marriage capital of the
world," where wedding chapels and casinos vie for space. And thanks
to the opening this February of the Forever Grand Wedding Chapel at
the MGM Grand Hotel Casino, the city has one more place where
couples can say "I do."
The 5,000-square-foot space, located in the property's Studio
Walk area, sports a facade inspired by New York's Alwyn Court
Apartments, home to the famous Petrossian restaurant. The Art Deco
interior, with its wood-paneled rooms decorated in shades of rose,
taupe and pearl, is divided into two separate chapels -- the Legacy
Chapel, which can seat up to 50 guests, and the Cherish Chapel,
which can accommodate up to 35 people.
Both offer large dressing rooms for both the bride and groom and
are stocked with such vital last-minute necessities as hairspray,
mouthwash, aftershave -- even a sewing kit. Reinforcing the
property's entertainment theme, the walls throughout the venue are
dotted with black-and-white movie stills depicting nuptial scenes
from classic films such as "The Philadelphia Story."
Wedding services offered by the chapel include services of an
officiant, photography and videography, wedding cakes, catering,
reception planning, live piano accompaniment, floral arrangements,
honeymoon or wedding accommodations, bachelor and bachelorette
party planning, dress and tuxedo rental referrals.
The Forever Grand Chapel also offers for sale such wedding
accessories as unity candles, guestbooks and pen sets, picture
frames, garter sets, serving sets, flower-girl baskets, cake
toppers, ring-bearer pillows and champagne flutes. Couples looking
to take the plunge in a less conventional setting may want to opt
for one of the property's themed wedding packages.
These packages feature a wedding on the SkyScreamer -- billed as
the world's largest skycoaster -- at the MGM Grand Adventure theme
park; amid the colored lights and disco balls at the 1970s-themed
Studio 54 nightclub, or on the set of the property's $45 million
production "EFX," with Merlin the magician officiating at the
