Ad agency suspends Jamaica tourism spots

NEW YORK -- Advertising spots by the Jamaica Tourist Board were suspended this spring due to an outstanding debt to its ad agency, Foote, Cone and Belding here, the latter confirmed. The tourist board had no comment.

Both the ad agency owners and Noel Mignott, deputy director of tourism with the Jamaica Tourist Board in New York were in Jamaica at the time of inquiries, according to their respective spokespeople, presumably working to address the issue which was made public by an article and editorial in the May 3 edition of the Jamaica Gleaner newspaper.

The Jamaica Tourist Board's most recent ads to air were during a solidarity campaign after Sept. 11, a spokeswoman from the agency said.
