Agencies can sell DER rail at their own sites

ROSEMONT, Ill. -- DER enhanced the linking capability of its Web site, at, so agents can sell rail passes seamlessly from their own Web sites.

"Agencies that want to sell DER's European Railpasses on their agency Web sites can access and click on the box alerting them to this new opportunity, which can be found on the travel agent home page," said a DER spokeswoman.

"After submitting a simple form, a unique link is immediately generated for the agency along with instructions on how to paste this link onto its site.

"Once the link is established, agents can begin receiving [rail pass] bookings on line," she explained.

Agencies that add the DER link will be alerted to every order that is made on their site through an e-mail receipt of each order. DER will fulfill these orders.

DER Rail Outlet agencies -- with direct access to DER inventory -- will receive the booking themselves for immediate fulfillment.

Another improvement to is the "shopping cart" feature for rail purchases at the new Railpass WebStore.

"The new ordering system means that an agent can purchase more than one pass in one transaction," the spokeswoman explained. "Previously, an agent would have to submit each pass order separately."

In other DER news, the firm added the Finrail Pass to its 2001 product line.

The pass is available for three, five or 10 days of train travel within Finland in a one-month period.
