Air Jamaica, Virgin launch joint frequent flyer pact

KINGSTON -- Air Jamaica and Virgin Atlantic launched a joint frequent flyer agreement, effective May 1.

Under the pact, members of Air Jamaica's 7th Heaven and Virgin's Flying Club programs can accrue and trade in miles for free tickets on either airline.

To promote the agreement, Air Jamaica is offering double miles to all Flying Club and 7th Heaven members who fly Air Jamaica between May 20 and July 20.

In addition, passengers on the return leg of the trip are eligible for a vacation in Jamaica or Grenada.

Last November, the two carriers signed a letter of intent for a marketing relationship that covered fare agreements, passenger and freight interlining and sharing of passenger and ground handling facilities in addition to frequent flyer reciprocity. The pact included services between Jamaica, the eastern Caribbean, the U.S., London and other destinations served by the two carriers.
