MEXICO CITY -- Three airlines announced promotional fares and plans
for new service to Mexico.
• America West launched nonstop service four days a week between
its Las Vegas hub and Mexico City. The airline is using an A320
with room for 12 in first class and 138 in the main cabin.
Flight 179 departs Las Vegas at 12:55 a.m. and arrives in Mexico
City at 6:30 a.m. On the return, Flight 178 departs Mexico City at
9 p.m. and arrives in Las Vegas at 10:50 p.m. The flights operate
Thursdays through Sundays.

• Mexicana Airlines is offering an introductory roundtrip fare
of $440 to promote its new nonstop flights from Sacramento, Calif.,
to Guadalajara, with continuing service to Mexico City.
The service begins July 1 with four weekly flights. Tickets must
be purchased by June 30 for travel by Aug. 31.
As part of the promotion, Mexicana is extending double miles for
members of its frequent flyer program.
Meanwhile, the airline is offering a 39% discount on its
Executive Class fares between Denver and Mexico City through June
30. This promotion also offers double miles for members of its
frequent flyer program.

• Continental said it will launch daily nonstop flights between
Houston's George Bush Airport and Villahermosa in December, pending
government approval. If approved, the service will be aboard
Villahermosa, centrally located in the state of Tabasco, is in
the heart of Mexico's oil industry. Surrounded by three rivers, the
city is close to numerous archaeological and natural
Villahermosa will become the 20th Mexican city served by
Continental and Continental Express. Continental is the largest U.S
carrier to Mexico, with more than 300 weekly departures.
Under the plan, Continental Express flights will depart Houston
at 9:30 a.m. and arrive in Villahermosa at 12:20 p.m. The return
flight will leave Villahermosa at 1:20 p.m. and arrive in Houston
at 4:10 p.m.
