Airport features golf reservations service

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Golfers arriving at Southwest Florida Airport here can reserve tee times as soon as their flights land.

The airport and Watermark Communities Inc. (WCI) teamed up to provide what they believe is the first service of its kind at an airport.

WCI, a master-planned community developer, installed a tee-time reservations center near the airport's PGA Tour store.

The stand-alone kiosk enables travelers to phone ahead to schedule tee times on WCI's four semiprivate courses -Tiburon, Pelican Sound, Gateway and Gulf Harbour.

WCI said it decided to test-market the kiosk to determine future concierge service strategies and selected the site near the PGA store because golfers tend to stop there.

The Southwest Florida Airport serves a five-county region that includes Sanibel, Captiva and Marco Islands, Fort Myers Beach and the Everglades.
