All Mountain adds to independent ski offerings in Norway

EDMONDS, Wash. -- All Mountain Vacations will be operating three new independent itineraries to Norway this ski season.

From Dec. 18 through April 24, clients can choose from the Nordic Holiday, the Mountains and Fjords Ski Adventure or the Norway Olympic Winter packages.

  • The Nordic Holiday is a 10-day tour visiting Oslo, Lillehammer and the Gala ski region.
  • The Holmenkollen Ski Jump, an Oslo, Norway landmark.Starting in Lillehammer, two nights will be spent in the Birkebeineren mountain hotel in Olympic Park. Plenty of skiing terrain, the Olympic Ice Hall and the Folk Museum are nearby.

    In Gala, guests have four days to explore the cross-country ski trails that dominate the region. Night facilities and other snow sports are available, as well.

    The final two days are spent in Oslo's Gabelshus Hotel, with time for sightseeing or more cross-country skiing.

  • The Mountains and Fjords Ski Adventure visits Bergen, Voss, Geilo and Oslo in nine days.
  • One day in Bergen affords participants ample time to take the funicular to see the mountain views, visit the aquarium or wander the 900-year-old city's artistic and architectural sights.

    In Voss, two days can be spent skiing cross country or downhill with fjord views where several World Cup ski competitions have been held.

    Three days will be spent in Geilo in a mountain-style hotel. Diverse skiing opportunities are balanced with activities such as pubbing, dog sledding, reindeer safaries and torch-lit sleigh rides. A final day in Oslo allows for sightseeing.

  • The 11-day Norway Olympic Winter package visits Lillehammer and Oslo and focuses on downhill skiing and the resort-town activities.
  • In Lillehammer, accommodations will be in the Birkebeineren mountain hotel in Olympic Park for seven days. The 1994 Olympic site offers extensive winter sports facilities as well as museums and sightseeing opportunities.

    Two days in Oslo will leave time to visit sites such as the sculpture park; Holmenkollen ski jump and museum; the Viking ship museum, or the folk museum.

    All packages include roundtrip air from New York, Seattle or Chicago; accommodations, some meals, and transfers via rail and bus.

    Prices range from $900 to $1,500 per person.

    Operator offers agents a chance to hit Norway's slopes in spring

    EDMONDS, Wash. -- All Mountain Vacations is offering agents a chance to ski in Norway in the spring. The company, based here, scheduled a familiarization tour for April 6 to 15. Downhill and Nordic skiing will be available.

    The eight-night package spends two nights in Lillehammer, three in Gala and two in Oppdal. There also is a one-night stay in Copenhagen.

    The $1,075 price includes roundtrip air from Seattle, Chicago or New York; motorcoach and train transfers; most breakfasts and dinners; five days of skiing, and meetings with local tourist offices.
