Alpine Tourist Commission appoints new U.S. chairman

he Alpine Tourist Commission, which includes the national tourist offices of Austria, Germany, Italy and Switzerland, has a new U.S. chairman: Urs Eberhard, director of Switzerland Tourism in New York. Eberhard will serve a six-year term as chairman of the organization, which promotes vacation travel to the Alps and publishes brochures and guides for that purpose.

He replaces Erich Neuhold, director of the Austrian National Tourist Office in New York, who has been ATC's U.S. chairman for the past six years. For the current winter season, the ATC teamed up with the Skiing Co. and Central Holidays to produce a Ski the Alps brochure. It is available from each of the member countries' tourist offices.

The commission also overhauled its Web site, at www.alpseurope.org, at which agents and clients can subscribe to an electronic newsletter service.

The Alpine Tourist Commission, now represented by Switzerland Tourism, can be contacted at (212) 757-5944 Ext. 223; fax (212) 262-6116, or e-mail [email protected].
