SECAUCUS -- Two new AmeriSuites properties are under construction in New Jersey, both scheduled for completion at the end of this year.

Prime Hospitality Corp. broke ground on a 159-suite AmeriSuites hotel here in the Harmon Meadows complex, four miles from Manhattan and eight miles northeast of Newark Airport.

The Secaucus area is dotted with numerous corporate facilities and office parks, and the location of the AmeriSuites Secaucus/Meadowlands property is convenient to the Meadowlands Sports & Entertainment Complex and the Secaucus outlet shopping centers.

Ethan Kramer, vice president of development at Prime Hospitality Corp., said the company expects the new property in Secaucus to "realize strong returns in terms of occupancy and guest satisfaction, as the northern New Jersey-metropolitan New York market has demonstrated a strong demand for an affordable all-suites product."

The hotel will be situated across the road from a Prime-owned Holiday Inn.

Earlier this year, ground was broken on Prime's first Ameri-Suites project in the Garden State, a 124-suite AmeriSuites hotel in Princeton.

The AmeriSuites Princeton/Carnegie Center West will be located across from the Carnegie Corporate Center, one-half mile south of Princeton University and adjacent to the Princeton Market Fair Mall.

The Princeton property is expected to be completed in October and the Secaucus hotel in December.
