SEATTLE -- American Safari Cruises is offering clients discounts of
up to 25% on select Alaska cruises in May and promoting a $999
travel agent rate for the same cruises.
Under the promotion, clients can save $2,500 per couple on
seven-night cruises that are priced from $4,895 per person,
The amount of the discount is the same regardless of cabin
category and could result in a savings of up to 25% per couple,
according to the cruise company.
promotion applies to four May departures: May 5 and 12 between
Juneau and Prince Rupert on the 105-foot, 12-passenger Safari
Spirit, and May 12 and 26 between Juneau and Sitka aboard the
102-foot, 22-passenger Safari Quest.
American Safari Cruises said May is an ideal time to visit
Alaska, as the average rainfall that month is lower than during
subsequent summer months.
"Most travelers don't realize that the prime weather season
comes early in Alaska, and late spring there traditionally is drier
than the summer months," said Capt. Dan Blanchard, president of
American Safari Cruises.
"There is more sunshine and there are fewer tourists. It's
really the best time of all," Blanchard said.
American Safari Cruises promises clients an up-close look at small
fishing villages and Native Alaska communities where passengers
meet tribal elders who recount local traditions.
For the active traveler, the cruises offer kayaking in secluded
coves, small-boat explorations of icebergs, wildlife viewing and
free "flightseeing" excursions.
The yachts travel in the daytime and anchor during the late
afternoon in small bays and remote coves.
Both yachts feature on-deck hot tubs, observation areas and
staterooms with private bathrooms and TVs/VCRs.
The yachts also feature salons, libraries and bars serving
complimentary premium spirits, wines and microbrew beers. Meals are
multicourse affairs served in a single seating.
