American Safari pays 20% in early season

SEATTLE -- Sending clients to Alaska early in the season can be more lucrative for agents -- with American Safari Cruises, anyway.

With its Early Escape program, the upscale yacht company is offering up to 20% commission on five early-season Alaska departures of the 112-foot, 12-passenger yacht Safari Escape, which joined the fleet in 2001.

On full-yacht charters, which cost from $56,563 to $70,243 to rent, the gross commission to agents can be as much as $14,000 when booked by Jan. 17.

The bonus commissions apply to the sailings scheduled May 9, 16, 23, 30 and June 6.

Staterooms include VCR/TVs and private bathrooms with showers. The yacht has an on-deck hot tub, a salon with a large-screen TV, a dining room and a complimentary bar.

The craft is equipped with four double sea kayaks, mountain bikes, a motorized shore boat and exercise equipment.

The charters include fuel, port fees, food and beverages -- including alcohol. Individual cabins can be booked at 15% commission, on costs ranging from $4,295 to $7,495.

Sailing between Juneau and Prince Rupert, the Safari Escape stops at Tracy Arm, Petersburg, Yes Bay, Meyers Chuck, Misty Fjords and Ketchikan.
