WASHINGTON -- Amtrak, along with Fullerton, Calif.-based Slotsy Tours and Travel Inc., created a way for travel agents to receive 10% commission on day passes to Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif.

For the first time, agents can sell packages that include 25% discounts on Amtrak's unreserved coach trains, the San Diegan and San Joaquin, plus transfers on the Fantasy Flyer motorcoach shuttles to Disneyland and day passes at the park.

Disneyland now offers commissions on pre-purchased five-day passes only, according to a spokesman for Slotsy Tours and Travel.

In other pricing initiatives, Amtrak announced an Amtrak Smart Pass, available beginning Jan. 28, for travel in the Northeast Corridor and designed to benefit monthly commuters.

The Smart Pass will be valid aboard 56 trains for travel between any two specific cities in the Northeast Corridor and allow unlimited travel for one month.

It is not valid aboard Metroliners or reserved NortheastDirect trains outside Virginia.

In the Midwest, Amtrak said it is offering free companion tickets through Feb. 28 on its routes within and between Illinois, Missouri and Michigan.

Most of the trains feature Custom Class Service, which can be purchased as an upgrade from coach and includes seating in a reserved area, soft drinks and newspapers.
