Amtrak Sets One-Way Fares on West Coast

WASHINGTON -- Amtrak is offering new one-way fares on its West Coast routes.

For example, a one-way fare is $17 each way on a short-distance trip or $34 roundtrip, instead of the previous pricing method, where the same ticket costs $25 with an $8 return for a roundtrip fare of $33.

Trains affected include the Los Angeles-Seattle Coast Starlight, the San Diego-Santa Barbara San Diegan, the Bakersfield-Oakland/San Francisco San Joaquin and the Sacramento-Oakland/San Francisco Capitol.

Also, the Eugene-Seattle Cascadia, the Portland-Seattle Mount Adams and the Vancouver, British Columbia-Seattle Mount Baker International.

Amtrak's regional Explore America excursion fares and monthly and multiride ticket prices are unaffected by the one-way pricing, the company said.
