Antigua Resorts adds Jolly Harbour property

ST. JOHN'S, Antigua -- Antigua Resorts added Jolly Harbour Beach Resort to its portfolio of hotels here.

The property, managed by Antigua Resorts, consists of 500 villas, a marina and a two-mile stretch of beach.

Rob Barrett, chairman of Antigua Resorts, said he plans to spend $7 million on upgrading the property, with renovations set to be complete by mid-November.

The money is being generated from existing funds from the other properties.

The face-lift will include overall upgrades to the landscaping, the building of two new restaurants and replacing the soft furnishings and furniture in all villas.

Improvements also will feature the addition of an entertainment center, an upgrade to the children's play area and renovations on the golf course and clubhouse.

Jolly Harbour will continue to welcome guests throughout the renovations, with "little or no disruption of current services to visitors," Barrett said.

Through Dec. 20, inclusive rates at Jolly Harbour are $115 per room, double.

In addition to Jolly Harbour Beach Resort, Antigua Resorts also includes the St. James's Club and the Royal Antiguan Beach & Tennis Resort, both located here.
