WAIKIKI -- Aston Hotels & Resorts took over management of the Aloha Surf Hotel and is starting a $1.5 million renovation of the property.

Aston also said that the Aston Waikiki Banyon and the Aston Waikiki Sunset recently completed renovations.

Regarding the Aloha Surf renovation, "everything in the rooms and the lobby will be renovated -- paint, carpet, furniture -- we're going to throw all the old stuff out," said general manager Hakim Ouansafli.

Ouansafli said the renovation will be complete "at the end of the summer."

With the addition of the 202-room property, Aston now has 34 properties in Hawaii.

At the Aston at the Waikiki Banyon, $750,000 was spent on 100 rooms of the condominium resort. Rooms now have a tropical theme with new light-green carpets, new furniture and sofas. The one-bedroom units all received new microwave ovens.

The Aston at the Waikiki Banyon has a children's playground.

At the Aston Waikiki Sunset, also a condominium resort, $2.4 million is being spent on renovations.

Rooms are being equipped with new counter tops, kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities and phones.

Renovations to the Waikiki Sunset are expected to be completed by the beginning of the summer, according to Aston.
