RENO, Nev. -- Atlantis Casino Resort enhanced its casino game options with the addition of Beat the Dealer.

The game, which also is referred to as Over 21, received approval for game play by the Mississippi Gaming Commission, and Atlantis is previewing the game for the Nevada Gaming Commission until the end of April.

The game is expected to be approved by the middle of June, according to an Atlantis spokesman.

The innovative game is played on a layout similar to that for blackjack, but the rules are different.

The game is dealt from a six-deck shoe that has 12 jokers. Aces and jokers have a card value of 11.

Players are dealt a total of five cards, and to win, they must have a hand with a total count over 21 and a total count greater than the dealer's hand.

Each player with a winning hand wins even money on an initial bet and double-down bet. A player holding a hand of 33 wins double the bet plus $25, and a player with a hand of three jokers wins triple the bet plus $250.

The new game carries a $3 minimum and a $200 maximum bet.

Atlantis is a full-service casino resort featuring luxury accommodations, including Jacuzzi suites with views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains or downtown Reno; world-class casino gaming; live entertainment; an array of dining options; a nightclub, and a health club and spa.
