BHA renews hurricane policy

NEW YORK -- The Bahama Hotel Association's 2003 hurricane policy states that guests staying in The Bahamas when a hurricane occurs -- including those who must extend their stay --should be "offered all possible courtesies and be charged the lowest possible rates in light of the situation."

Travelers who don't make the trip at all can use payments toward a future stay at the same property or get a refund.

The policy, by the 80 hotel and resort members of the BHA, is voluntary.
