Barbados' U.S. arrivals up sharply in July

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados -- Barbados posted a 2% increase in arrivals during July, when 49,381 were welcomed, according to preliminary reports from the Barbados Tourism Authority.

This represented the island's first monthly year over year increase since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

A breakdown showed that U.S. arrivals during July were up by 22.4%, while arrivals from other Caribbean points rose by 20% vs. July 2001.
