SAUSALITO, Calif. -- Terry Seligman, a longtime docent and tour leader for the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, started her own tour company focusing on the art and museums of the San Francisco Bay area.

Called TerryTours, the company has arranged several daylong tours that can be booked by groups.

Among them is ArtScene San Francisco, a guided tour of major San Francisco museums, gardens and exhibitions.

Others are Active Arts Day, with visits to museums and leading fine arts galleries in downtown San Francisco; San Francisco Mural Day, which is spent visiting murals by Diego Rivera and other celebrated artists, and A Day of Art and Vine, a tour of a sculpture garden and a nature preserve in the wine country, followed by a luncheon, a wine-tasting and a tour of a private art collection.

Seligman also offers guided walking tours of neighborhoods of San Francisco with distinctive architecture and visits to artists' studios and art galleries.

Through her years as a docent at the museum, Seligman developed contacts in the art community who have given her access to private art collections normally closed to the public.

"I can create customized, personalized tours based on groups of 10 or more," she said.

Her target markets are affinity groups who have an art focus, incentives and meetings groups and art enthusiasts. Seligman also is leading two six-night tours of the Venice Biennale art show, departing July 17 and July 18. The programs visit Venice, Italy, and the surrounding area, with a focus on art.

The price is $2,495 per person, double, and includes most meals, guest speakers, special receptions and events.
