Bermuda Culinary Arts Festival set for Nov. 2 to 5

HAMILTON, Bermuda -- Food connoisseurs will want to head to Bermuda Nov. 2 to 5, when the island hosts its first Bermuda Culinary Arts Festival. The island plans to make this an annual event.

The festival will feature cooking demonstrations, wine and gourmet food tastings, seminars conducted by celebrity chefs, live entertainment, island tours, leisure activities and more.

Among festivities are a cigar aficionado event, a scenic boat tour of Bermuda's Great Sound and glassblowing demonstrations.

It boasts a roster of world-renowned chefs lead by Sara Moulton, executive chef of the Gourmet Cooking Arts Center and host of the TV Food Network's "Cooking Live," and Michael Green, Gourmet magazine's wine consultant.

Joining them will be celebrity chefs from restaurants throughout North America including Jody Adams of Rialto (Boston), Andrew Carmellini of Cafe Boulud (New York), Guillermo Pernot of Pasion (Philadelphia) and Norman Van Aken of Norman's (Miami).

Inclusive travel packages for clients and agents have been designed specifically for the festival.

Packages include three-nights' accommodations at a selection of Bermuda properties, roundtrip air, all festival activities, three gourmet breakfasts (with demonstrations), two gourmet dinners including wine and gratuities, on-island transportation and transfers.

Additional nights also are available.

Accommodations have been arranged with Elbow Beach Bermuda, Fairmont Southampton Princess, Newstead Hotel, Sonesta Beach or Cambridge Beaches.

Departures are available from Atlanta, Boston, Baltimore, New York's Kennedy Airport and Philadelphia.

Prices range from $2,149 to $2,799 per person, double, depending on departure city and property.

For example, a trip departing from Boston with accommodations at Elbow Beach is priced at $2,450 per person, double.

Land-only packages with the same inclusions are also available ranging from $1,899 to $2,289 per person, double.

Fairmont Southampton Princess is offering agents a discount rate of $1,600 per person, double, and Sonesta Beach Resort is offering an inclusive rate of $1,735 per person, double.

The above rates are land only and available only to travel agents.

The rate includes three nights' accommodations, all festival events, roundtrip airport transfers, transfers to and from festival sights, all taxes and gratuities.
