Bombard Society to fly over six countries this fall

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- The Bombard Society here, which will mark its 10,000th luxury ballooning flight with a trip over Champagne, France, this month, scheduled several different itineraries through October in six countries: Austria, Czech Republic, France, Italy, Switzerland and Turkey.

Ten of the flights will take place in France -- five in the Loire Valley and five in Burgundy -- and all are priced at $5,494 for four-night excursions. Tuscany, Italy, will be the site of four additional six-night outings, at a cost of $7,994. The remaining programs are single departures with four-night tours in Switzerland or Austria; a five-night trip from Prague, Czech Republic, and the longest airing of the season, a nine-night journey that visits Istanbul, Turkey, as well as the dramatic landscape of Cappadocia in central Turkey. Prices range from $5,494 for Switzerland/Austria tours to $6,987 for Prague and $10,496 for the tour through Turkey.

While Bombard's first lofty adventure was organized for a small group of friends using two balloons, today's enterprise features 14 balloons, each carrying a maximum of six passengers from groups that number no more than 24 people. The travel formula is simple: fine wining, dining and top hotels combined with two-thirds of the day spent on guided visits to the major cultural and tourist attractions and the remaining third set aside for balloon-related activities and low-flying sightseeing, with Champagne spirits served on landings.

Pilots with 4,000 or more hours aloft fly the flower-decorated balloons, while founder Buddy Bombard leads each trip as host and as one of the pilots. The Bombard Society, Phone: (800) 862-8537 or (561) 837-6610, Fax:(561) 837-6623, Web:
