LAS VEGAS -- The CBS television network opened Television City, a
research center and tourist attraction, at the MGM Grand here.
The attraction, which is free of charge, allows participants to
view pilots for television series as well as episodes of existing
network programs and provide feedback about the shows.
Television City includes a promotional display featuring 46 Sony
video display units, including a video cube, a video wall and a
home theater with high-definition television.
It has two screening rooms for program testing; two focus-group
rooms with video-conferencing capabilities for program testing and
interactive computer kiosks that provide access to all Viacom
Television-related Web sites.
It also has a retail outlet, operated by the MGM Grand, that
offers a variety of merchandise tied to Viacom's television
networks and programming.
