BRIDGETOWN, Barbados -- The World Tourism Organization Business
Council will bring together members from the Caribbean Hotel
Association and the Caribbean Tourism Organization for a two-day
seminar focusing on creating working partnerships as well the
cooperation between the public and private sectors.
The seminar will take place July 17 and 18 at the Accra Beach
Hotel in Christ Church.
Jean Holder, CTO secretary general, said the biggest challenge
facing Caribbean tourism today is assuring cooperation between the
two sectors to "achieve excellence in tourism management and
Holder said that CTO and CHA seek "frank discussions" on issues
such as marketing, tourism and taxation, safety and security,
investment, environmental protection and sustainable funding.
Meanwhile, the Caribbean Hotel Association elected Berthia Parle
president of the association.
Parle, general manager of Bay Gardens Hotel in St. Lucia, is the
first woman to hold CHA's top post and succeeds Simon Suarez.
