BRIDGETOWN, Barbados -- The World Tourism Organization Business Council will bring together members from the Caribbean Hotel Association and the Caribbean Tourism Organization for a two-day seminar focusing on creating working partnerships as well the cooperation between the public and private sectors.

The seminar will take place July 17 and 18 at the Accra Beach Hotel in Christ Church.

Jean Holder, CTO secretary general, said the biggest challenge facing Caribbean tourism today is assuring cooperation between the two sectors to "achieve excellence in tourism management and development."

Holder said that CTO and CHA seek "frank discussions" on issues such as marketing, tourism and taxation, safety and security, investment, environmental protection and sustainable funding.

Meanwhile, the Caribbean Hotel Association elected Berthia Parle president of the association.

Parle, general manager of Bay Gardens Hotel in St. Lucia, is the first woman to hold CHA's top post and succeeds Simon Suarez.
