NEW YORK -- Key points of the Caribbean's Regional Tourism
Strategic Plan will be reviewed June 18 by the Caribbean Tourism
Organization's Board of Directors in Puerto Rico.
The initial draft of the plan, mandated by Caribbean government
heads in Nassau last December as a result of the aftermath of Sept.
11, was discussed in New York in May.
Objectives of the Strategic Plan include: increasing tourism
expenditures in the region by 5% or more in the next 10 years;
increasing arrivals by 1% or more above the world average growth;
arresting the declining market share of cruise tourism and
increasing the conversion of cruise tourists to stay-over
The plan's final version is expected to be completed by July
